Advanced Resuscitation Course Outline
Course Aim
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to perform advanced resuscitation techniques on, and administer supplementary oxygen to, a casualty using selected oxygen devices.
Course Objective
This training is suitable for individuals, companies and organizations, and will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make them confident and competent to perform Advanced Resuscitation.
Prerequisites
- This course is for currently qualified first aid certificate holders (Lvl 2).
- Minimum age of 16 years is recommended.
Learning Outcomes
- Explain the human respiratory system and the function of oxygen
- Identify situations where the use of a resuscitation device should be used and the advantages gained when using the device.
- Demonstrate the correct method for performing mouth-to-mask resuscitation
- Demonstrate the correct method for performing bag-valve mask resuscitation
- Define the indications for the administration of supplementary oxygen
- Demonstrate correct assembly, preparation and use of selected oxygen equipment
- Demonstrate effective CPR using a selected oxygen resuscitation device
- Define safety procedures and precautions when using oxygen resuscitation devices
